All, I decided to go Route 2.

Based on the fact it doesn’t look promising at all to get the data back, We have to work with what we got.

So, here is what needs to happen next.

Every Kingdom needs to Rejoin.
You need to give out Province codes again to your ENTIRE kingdom.
And Yell at me! haha.

Sorry all, I know Im gonna get an ear full over the next couple of days and will completely understand if you hate pimp for a few days or weeks because of this, but I couldn’t help it and I had to get pimp up and running ASAP.

I imagine most of you already have SAVED intel in Angel. Just re paste it to pimp. I promise I will keep this better managed along with those ‘F’ING back ups. This just has me going. I don’t understand why they went corrupt.

Im gonna look into this Deep and hard.

On a BETTER note: I did FINALLY get the EST WPA / MOD WPA / EST TPA / Mod TPA in pimp and working. Hope you all are happy to see these values now. The Formulas are not quite there on the MODS, but they are pretty damn accurate via the Utopian Wiki….

Again, I AM SORRY ALL….. I know this is going to be a hassle to get your kingdoms to JOIN back up… Please have mercy on me for the next couple of days…

All,

I DECIDED TO GO WITH ROUTE 2 have having a big discussion with the guys in IRC on #strategy.

Big problems over here right now. I lost all the province Data for pimp… This includes all CB’s, All Links, All Province codes etc…

If your wondering how, Well the Database was getting huge and I was doing weekly back ups of the data. Well the back ups went corrupt… ALL of them.

I was adding new columns to the database to take care of new requests being made for WPA and TPA and I went to add the columns to the main table and it went corrupt on me. And now I can’t get the data back because the Backups also were corrupted. Even though I tested them. The last SOLID back up I HAVE is from last age. And that does NOBODY ANY GOOD.

On another note, I DID NOT lose the Settings/User Information/Column Setups. All I lost were the connections and the Province Data that mainly comes from CB’s.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. What the HELL do I do. I am sitting here at 5:00 AM and I am trying to figure out how to take care of this. UGH…

Route 1: I can try for the next day or TWO or THREE to get the data back. Hope that it is sitting there and and one backup isn’t corrupt. I can’t run the transactions logs back because the entire set of data went corrupt.

Route 2: Reset UtopiaPimp to its original State where everything comes back like a brand new start of the age.

What do you all think? The faster I get responses, the better for everyone for me to make a decision.

Fixed the CE issue...

Hey all,

So if anyone tried to upload their CE from around January - March may have noticed it wasn’t uploading correctly and it was sent to me.

I found a bug in the way I convert Date and Times.. Its now been fixed and all is well. So if you had that problem and still wish to store you CE, Just go back to February’s paper and it should all work out alright!

Now you might be a little confused or upset, but I thought I would let yall know. Ive actually have never used my Pimp until just a few weeks ago. I know what you must think, but my kingdom always used other tools to get the job done.

I decided that I need to start using it and I need to settle down a little bit in Utopia. So I went from a top ranking kingdom and traded into a rather lousy kingdom. At the time of writing this the kingdom doesn’t know I am in their kingdom as the developer of pimp.

I have focused a bit as of this past few weeks and been noticing a lot more problems in pimp. Hope you all know, I am fixing them as fast and good as possible!

I had to be open and honest with you all just so you knew where I was coming from. Now you know!

New Pimp Agent Uploaded

All,

A new Agent has been uploaded.

I fixed a problem with the Ads showing up on Utopia. The ads being shown on Utopia were corrupting the information sent to pimp.
I also greatly reduced the size of the Ad on agent. I had a few complaints about the size. So I am sorry about the size, I guess my screen is bigger than most. Because im doing all this for free, I am trying my best to reduce all the ads while still being able to pay for hosting and bandwidth. The bandwidth is greatly used when using pimp agent, so thats why I am still trying to recover just a little bit of costs from the ad on Agent. Hope you all can understand.

If you don’t don’t know what Agent is and you use FIREFOX, I would definitely suggest looking into it. It saves a load of time and effort for those lazy users out there!!! Just kidding!

Was Asked about Kingdom Summaries

Hey all,

I was asked last night how accurate the kingdom summaries were. I didn’t clearly know so I took a huge paper and when through it line by line. I found I had a few amount of inaccuracies and I fixed them. When putting papers here on out, they will now be extremely accurate. Or at least thats my hope.

Hopefully you can start to gage wars on these kingdom summaries and if your winning or not.

On a last minute note: Anything CE related submitted BEFORE me writing this post will NOT be as accurate.

Hey all,

Some of you have been asking where I have been. Well I just wanted to let you know, I have been around. Watching over pimp closely.

I have been fixing a lot of small problems with pimp un-noticable to those people that don’t submit a lot of data and go over it. A few things you might have noticed. More spells and effects are now showing up in pimp. The CE’s are showing more items and its being cleaned up more. I guess I have just been working on cleaning up pimp to work with the new code base. I had a lot of old code that scanned the information entered and it was about time to clean those items up for the new code base from Utopia. So I may have not been posting, but I was working. Slowly, but surely.

Hope that cool with you all. I am still looking for the active discussion surrounding WPA/TPA. I wish more users would get involved. I need as much input as I can to make sure this works clearly and is right for everyone. After all this WPA/TPA are guesses after all.

All,

Just wanted to let EVERYONE know I am working on Pimp. The errors are now few and far between.

I am sorry to everyone that has been getting errors in the past couple of days, I have been working hard to get them fixed and working again. It just sort of happens since you guys are also my test community.

Also, Im starting to make real noticeable changes and UPGRADES to pimp again. We are getting pretty stable and things are really starting to work correctly. Hope you all are happy!!!

Hey all,

Wow, ever since the new age restart more and more people have started using pimp like crazy now… Its getting totally overloaded both the server and the database. I am working on this issue, but its gonna be a few days.

I am running out of Ram and CPU cycles for all these requests so it looks like im gonna have to move from a VPS to a true server… Looks like more money. ugh. Lets see what we can do.

Just so people know, I am aware of all these problems and I am working on them.

As I said before, I have no way to test on a MASSIVE scale the code I write. So I basically test with all of you. I am sorry, but I have to do it this way.

My family is in town correctly so I dont have much time to actually work on the code. We are sort of snowed in here in Washington, DC so thats whats going on in my life. This problem will be fixed, it just is taking longer than normal.

Kingdom Pages aren't taking...

Hey all,

I know ther issue with the kingdom pages arent taking. I am working on it, but have limited time this weekend due to my family in town. Ill be spending a few hours on it to try and resolve it, but I cant promise anything.

A current work around some kingdoms are doing is to just not post the kingdom pages and have to have the provinces in the KINGDOMLESS-PROVINCES Tab.

I am working on it though, so hopefully have a fix soon!

All,

Looks like Firefox just came out with 3.6 or something like that, so I updated the version number so it now works with 3.6 for all those early adopters! When firefox approves the new version, it will come out at 2010.02.02. It can be found here: http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12179

I just added some new code to watch when errors pop in the Add Data Box on the right. I want to remind EVERYONE, that kingdom pages only NOW display the kingdom locations ONCE on the entire page. So PLEASE when selecting RAW pages, do a Copy ALL and then a Paste ALL!!

New FireFox Pimp Agent Uploaded

A new Agent has been uploaded. Seems there was a problem with the “New Mail” Icon that was showing up in utopia. Its a Unicode character and that breaks Agent a bit from sending intel.

How to 'CLEAR' your kingdoms for the NEXT age.

Hey all,

With me working hard on updates, I forgot to mention how to clear your kingdoms for next age.

Side Note: You don’t have to clear your kingdom if you don’t want to. You will ALWAYS (if space is available) be able to go back to old kingdoms and reminisce so to speak.

1. Under Tools -> Add my kingdom -> Add your kingdom just like you did when first signing up. Once done, you can then select your new province Name from the drop down.

2. To Join your kingdom, Under Tools -> Join a kingdom -> once done, select your province from the dropdown.

SPECIAL NOTE: I have coded it where the Province names DO NOT CHANGE over time. So if you do add your kingdom before all the province names have been chosen, make sure you as the monarch have your province name for the age. When others start joining your kingdom, make sure they are solid on their province names.

Other special note: If you have someone that connected to pimp and has changed their province name, just tell them to delete their connection next to THEIR top drop down. If a province HAS not been updated with 5 days and is NOT attached to a user, it will be removed from your kingdom. So just have them remove the connection and give them their new province code.

Hey all,

Just wanted to give you all a heads up. I haven’t been getting any errors in the pimp and it looks like its going pretty fast.

So, whats up next for me? Im gonna start working on the feedback items here very soon. Right now im fixing how the CE’s are captured. Im tired of Sean and Brian not reading some things on my website and these bloody problems need to be fixed.

So the CE is first at bat for me. The next at bat will make sure the acceptance rate is HIGH for intel of any type being submitted all gets sorted and put into pimp.

Then comes the feedback forum!!! Im pretty happy. Im actually at a place where the site runs smoothly and I am getting VERY LITTLE ERRORS..
